I very much appreciate your feedback, but you are perpetuating a myth. The 12 step programs were created by Christians (and Jews by the way) in a country that, at the time, was 93% Christian. But it is not is not is not a Christian program. I’m an atheist and I’ve been a card carrying member of NA for 15 years. AA does conclude with the Lord’s Prayer (or one of your choice) but it is simply not accurate to say it’s Christian. Influenced by, yes. But name something that isn’t. And NA totally is not affiliated with any religious organizations. They go out of their way to make that point in their literature. To claim for one second that is a Christian program is to fundamentally misunderstand the nature of faith as it relates to recovery. Belief in a higher power as you understand it. By that definition, the program itself is a higher power. Thank you for your comment.
