I can’t tell you how many “writers” I’ve muted and/or blocked on Medium just this week (and it’s only Tuesday) who think that the best way to combat systemic racism is to make sweeping, blanket statements about how White people are just a bunch of racist Nazis who need to shut up and admit that they are terrible, bigoted people. From a strategic point of view, this is totally insane. Have we not learned yet that you can’t change people’s minds by insulting them?

Personally, I’m a fan of actually equality. And if I’m not allowed to be racist (which is fine with me), then surely the same standard applies to other races as well. The hypocrisy and the double standards being perpetuated are sickening. It’s just not helpful at all.
