I appreciate your article, but the assertion that toxic workplaces don’t exist is objectively false. Any number of ingredients go into a toxic workplace, and many have nothing to do with individual employee behaviors. Ill-defined values, hypocritical policies, triangulation between management, sexism, wagism, ageism. It’s far more complicated than just human behavior. Often times it is the entire ecosystem that is corrupt. Spend a week with me in a front line mental health agency or social services office and you’ll have a change of heart.

I wish it was as easy as personal behavior or even toxic people. But it’s not.
